What to Wear for The Dark Knight Premiere?

July 1, 2008 · 1 Comment

I can’t keep it in anymore… I am SO excited. Even more than the SATC Movie premiere. I get to work THE DARK KNIGHT PREMIERE!!!!!!!!!!

My old roomie Andi and I have been watching the trailers for months. She was Batman and I was the Joker for Halloween last year. Yes, that is how much we love Batman.

So anyways, what the heck am I going to wear for this!? Here are some dresses I found that are possibilities:

1. Jay Godfrey Ombre Tank Mini Dress — $495 at Sak’s (White with a hint of green, very Joker)

2. Nicole Miller Strapless Bubble Dress — $290 at Sak’s (Yellow is my color)

3. Elizabeth and James Ribbon Net Tank Dress – $460 at Intermix (I love the vintage vibe of this… I love MK and Ashley’s Line)

I’m going to have to actually go in and try these on because you never know how they will look on a normal non-amazon person. Plus, I think if I’m going to invest in a nice dress, I should go with something more classic. Or if all else fails, maybe I’ll just bust out my green Joker wig.

Which is your favorite?? Should I blow my weekend paycheck on 1, 2 or 3?

I Got a Straw Fedora…

July 1, 2008 · No Comments

… Can I pull it off?

Right now I am really into straw fedoras. I got one today from a vendor on 14th street for $11. What a deal! I’m trying to pick a day where I want to look cool and trendy to wear it. If I wore it out in Chicago I would be laughed out of town, but I know in NYC I can give it a go. Too bad I have no digi cam right now. I would take a pic of it on my goofy head.

I think a loose little low bun and a long black C & C dress for this one. Maybe I’ll whip it out for the Fourth.

By the way — oh my my, so sorry about the recent lack of posts! I have had family in town and my internet access has been goofy.

Terry Richardson is Surely Getting Belvedere a lot of Business

June 23, 2008 · 1 Comment

I LOVE Terry Richardson’s Belvedere Vodka Ads. They make me want Belvedere and only Belvedere… no more Ketel for me. New York Mag subscribers, check out the one in the latest issue with Vincent Gallo and a siren with some awesome blue earrings. I wish I could find a picture of it. The ads make me want to dye my blonde hair dark, grow it out, and vamp it up with some red lipstick. Maybe in the meantime I’ll just keep ripping the ads out for my “inspiration board” and buy some of TR’s coffee table books.

Also, if you haven’t seen this commercial yet, you MUST watch.

Don’t you just want to be at that party??

Jelly Sandals

June 20, 2008 · No Comments

My roommate was just ogling some Kate Spade jelly sandals. They have also been on my radar. I saw a pair on Mary Kate Olsen somewhere.

Although I remember how uncomfortable they are from the early 90’s, I really want a pair. There’s just something cool about pliable plastic.

I get my paycheck today, and there is a good chance I may be getting these:

Jelly Gladiator, Asos.com

They are only 8 pounds aka 16-ish dollars from my favorite new British site. Although they are jelly, they are lined, which may add a little comfort and prevent slipping and sliding!

Sighting: ANTM’s Crazy Brittany

June 20, 2008 · No Comments

Last night I was at a Midsummer’s Night Party at Tavern on the Green. It was a pretty good time, with bumpin’ music and a great crowd for people watching.

Then I saw her. Brittany from America’s Next Top Model. Remember when she flipped out because she was late for that go-see challenge? Or all the time?? Haha… it was so weird to see her in person. She was definitely pretty and had the edgy spiked black rocker hair thing going on, but wasn’t anything spectacular. I wonder if she’s getting work.

5 Questions…

June 15, 2008 · No Comments

1. What were you doing 10 years ago?

Ten years ago, I was frolicking around Villa Park, Illinois with my friends. We would ride our bikes to the hot dog stand and the penny candy store. When I wasn’t doing that, I was usually training in gymnastics and dance because I was a very serious little performer. I was dead set on becoming a lawyer and politician if I didn’t go into professional dancing. I was also starting to experiment with fashion. I remember wearing bell-bottoms with a sheer shirt and a flower tee underneath. That was my ultimate outfit.

2. What are 5 things on your to-do list today?

Book a hotel for my family because they are visiting at the end of the month

Call my dad — it’s Father’s Day!

Have an art print framed

Do some cheap shopping at Forever 21

Grab some lunch with a friend

I know, I’m pretty boring today. :)

3. Snacks you enjoy…

Saltine crackers and CANDY.. especially Jujy Fruits

4. Places you have lived…

Born in Creve Coeur, Missouri, right outside of Saint Louis. Raised in Villa Park, Illinois and a small stint in Elmhurst, Illinois (Chicago suburbs). Then went to Champaign, Illinois to go to school at Illinois (Go Illini!). Next I studied and lived in Milan, Italy, and now I recently moved to NYC for my fashion/PR career.

5. 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire?

Billionaire!? I would make sure my family and friends were set for life, and then I would proceed to buy the penthouse at One Jackson Square in Greenwich Village (Google it, it is amazing). I would also buy properties in Paris, Chicago, Malibu, Milan and somewhere tropical. Next, I would finagle my way into every one of my favorite designer’s showrooms every season and build an amazing wardrobe. I would also stock up on vintage Halstons, get a few Birkins and many many Louboutins. Then I would become more involved in charitable causes since I obviously wouldn’t need to work anymore!

6. People you want to know more about…

My ancestors, Marie Antoinette, Terry Richardson, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Harper Lee, Vincent Gallo, F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Lindsay Meets Norma Kamali

June 15, 2008 · No Comments

Today I was lucky to meet Norma Kamali through work. She is so classy-cool, not to mention she doesn’t look a day over 30 (she is in her 60’s).

I am inspired to go out and get one of her beautiful jersey dresses. She revolutionized the jogging suit in the 1980’s long before Juicy made jogging sets chic. Also, you may recognize one of her designs from the SATC movie (remember Miranda’s embarassing mishap?):

Plus, she was wearing a pair of tortiseshell glasses that I totally am green for. Maybe I should get those Chanel 3135’s after all!

NEW YORK, May 9, 2008 – MyItThings.com (http://myitthings.com), a leading publisher of user-generated fashion content , today announced the launch of the “It” Designer Contest, the ultimate opportunity for aspiring designers.

A team of fashion industry experts will weigh in on the results and help discover new emerging talent, including “Project Runway” alum Malan Breton, the former Editor-in-Chief of Life & Style Sheryl Berk, C Magazine Executive Editor Nathan Cooper, Designer Keith Lissner, and MyItThings Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder Yuli Ziv.

“The contest offers great exposure for new and emerging designers — especially students and graduates,” says Yuli Ziv, Editor-in-Chief of MyItThings.com. “MyItThings.com’s social platform provides them with a unique chance to get immediate feedback on their designs from the site’s community of trendsetters, tastemakers and fashionistas.”

Entrants are invited to show off their pieces online for a chance to win the grand prize. Entries can be submitted today through July 15.  Each designer is asked to submit five previously created looks.  Site users will vote for their top 10 favorite designers.  Then, the three finalists will be awarded $1,500 to work on their looks for a Spring 2009 collection.

This effort will be documented on the MyItThings.com social platform through blogs, videos and pictures so that fans can keep up with their favorite designers’ efforts.  A runway show will be conducted in Oct. in NYC, which will allow the three finalists to show off their work in a professional runway show.

The final winner will be chosen by a combined vote, which is 50 percent by the judges and 50 percent by the MyItThings.com community.  A $5,000 Grand Prize, as well as exclusive collection sale on MyItThings.com, will be awarded to the winner.
